  • Deception Island

This “island” is one of the most visited places by tourists in Antarctica. A failed translation gives life to this place since it comes from the English “deception” which means deceit, and it is because this horseshoe-shaped island is an active volcano! It generates an incredible microclimate, making it the only island of the white continent that never freezes.

In its perimeter waters of warm temperatures could be found, thus taking a bath here is wonderful. One of its other attractions is its black lava beaches so while people are walking, they can be surprised by little fumaroles.

  • Full-day trip to Antarctic
    Chilean Antarctic

The daily visit, during the summer season, is common in Antarctica. The only way to do this full-day trip is through flights that depart from Punta Arenas to King George Island.

During the day we can visit different points of interest such as the post with the address of the 12 countries which signed the Antarctic treaty in 1959.

You can also see the Russian and Chilean bases, which are close to each other. You can visit its wonderful churches, each one with its charm. Moreover, you can meet the macaroni, adélie, chinstrap, and gentoo penguins.

  • Vernadsky Research Station and General Bernardo O'Higgins base

One of the main reasons why many countries have bases on the great white continent is to do research within its scientific bases, for which a visit to this place could not be complete without a visit to a functioning base, and fortunately you can do it at the Vernadsky Research Station!

This base, which is run by Ukraine, has a lot of history, and nowadays the scientists who work there open their doors to visitors. You can also visit the Chilean General Bernardo O’Higgins base, where you can see the bust of the hero that gives his name to this base, which was built in 1948.

This small group of southern islands is located 120 km north of the Antarctic Peninsula.

With its steep dark rocks, white and indescribable purity snow, it is a must for the cruises that sail to these latitudes, since it also has between its islands and surroundings a great variety of wildlife with a huge population of elephant seals and penguins.

Its location makes it one of the most visited places on the peninsula, and they are a great tourist attraction to visit in Antarctica.
